Silencing the voices…
Are you struggling with a persistent sense of stagnation in your life? Despite keeping a full schedule, do you find yourself making little progress?
This can be largely attributed to the influence of negative self-talk. Each morning, as you wake, conscious or subconscious voices enter your mind, instantly undermining your self-worth, asserting that your life is off track, and labelling you as a societal burden.
And so it begins…
For the next 14 to 16 waking hours, your primary objective is not to make meaningful plans that would take your life forward, but simply to temporarily silence these inner voices.
Consider this daily routine: You start your day with an early workout, aiming to momentarily quiet your inner critic. Then, you dive into your inbox, diligently working to clear it, if only for a brief sense of accomplishment. Following that, you attend meetings, many of which are non-essential but serve as a seemingly justified distraction. A healthy lunch follows, to alleviate your negative self-perception. Then, regardless of how you feel, you make after-work plans to avoid feeling like a social outcast or to justify putting yourself out there to meet a potential partner. Finally, by the time you return home, the inner voices have become bearable enough to relax on the sofa without their incessant nagging. Mission Accomplished.
Only for you to go to bed, wake up the next morning, and guess who’s back…
The issue you face is that you can’t see that the tasks you engage in, whether completed or left undone, do not have a profound impact on the forward motion of your life. You have created unnecessary box-ticking tasks, such as working out every morning without a clear goal or planned program. Or you overcommit to maintaining a pristine inbox, neglecting deeper, more impactful work where you can upskill and progress along the way.
Your dedication and efforts are admirable, but your priorities are misaligned, hindering your progress toward your actual aspirations. And all because you are so preoccupied with silencing those damn voices…
