The Importance of Starting the Day with Mindset.
We wake up every morning not knowing what life has in store for us. Yes, we have an idea of how our day is going to look – our schedule, the logistics. However, we do not know the details, and as the saying goes, 'the devil is in the detail.' This can be what makes or breaks our day.
We have no control over our partner, kids', boss or colleagues' moods. Nor do we have control over the weather, a delayed train, the current outrage on social media, or our clients' demands. All are outwith our control, yet play a significant role in determining the wellbeing of our day
Is this sometimes your life? You get up, get dressed, leave the house with a spring in your step, and suddenly, reality hits! One unavoidable frustration and disappointment after another, leaving you both physically drained and emotionally disheartened due to the relentless influence of external forces
However, there is a way to prevent or at least minimise this involuntary roller coaster. It's simple, straightforward, and it requires nothing but your time.
It’s taking ownership of your mindset. Start your day by giving yourself time to ease into a healthy headspace. Take a moment to put on your metaphorical armour against potential frustrations, disappointments, or negativity. Tune into a positive, forward-thinking, and productive outlook
I am not advocating for a morning routine. It's not about completing a task or getting something done; quite the opposite. The objective is to connect with yourself before extending your energy to others.
Yes, it can be paired with a task—seized over a cup of coffee, a morning digital detox, during a workout, or even in the solitude of a morning shower. The key is to ensure the objective is not lost. It’s time that serves as a reset, prompting reflection and distinguishing between the essential and the trivial. It's acknowledging that mistakes are inevitable—both on your part and others'. Do not apply shame to either. Above all, remember not to allow external influences to hijack your headspace.
Hence the importance of starting your day with mindset.
